The Scarecrow

Jack McEvoy, a crime reporter at the Times, got laid off. As his last story he wants to write about an accused juvenile killer. However, during his investigations he not only proves the innocence of the suspected killer, he also discovers that there must be a serial killer out there nobody noticed so far...

I enjoyed reading The Scarecrow, though I'm a bit disappointed that the author didn't make more of the hacker angle of the serial killer.
